Our aim is to have a positive impact over the short, medium and long term on our people, society and the environment.
For SHV Energy, making an impact means providing safe, lower-carbon, cleaner, accessible and affordable energy options to as many customers and companies as possible. It also means helping to reduce emissions and improve air quality. And, lastly, it means never compromising on the highest health and safety standards.
Our core LPG and LNG products enable us to provide cleaner energy options to the significant, but often overlooked, off-grid segment of consumers and businesses, replacing more polluting fuels such as oil and coal.
As worldwide demand for energy is expected to increase in coming decades, the increased energy use on our natural resources and on climate change will be significant if changes are not made today to ensure a sustainable future. As a family-owned company with a long-term view, we are uniquely positioned to be part of the solution.
Our core products and our growing sustainable fuels and renewable solutions portfolio support our customers and they allow us to actively contribute to the urgent demands of our planet and support the energy transition.
Led by a focus on value creation, SHV Energy views stakeholder engagement as key to our business. We use input received from our stakeholders to create, validate and improve our long-term impact and our overall sustainability agenda.
Our primary stakeholders are those who have a significant interest in the actions and views of our business, and whose actions and views are, in turn, of significant interest to us.
There are five ways in which we strive to achieve our impact goals:
Our energy options play a key, practical role in the world’s overall energy mix. As our core LPG and LNG products are cleaner than higher carbon and more polluting solid and liquid fuels, such as heating oil, coal and woody biomass*, we help our customers contribute towards the energy transition.
*LPG has lower emissions compared to polluting solid and liquid fuels, and has virtually no particulate matter emissions, improving both indoor and outdoor air quality. It also eliminates nearly all black carbon emissions from household cooking and helps reduce deforestation.
