SHV Energy Launches Its Sustainability Report 2024

SHV Energy is pleased to announce the release of the Sustainability Report 2024 marking the eighth consecutive year the company has issued this overview of its sustainability efforts. This year's theme, "Integration and Resilience," highlights SHV Energy's ongoing focus to integrating sustainable practices into its operations and building resilience for the future.

Key Highlights from 2024

SHV Energy made significant strides in various areas over the past year:

Environment

  • Reduction in logistics-related emissions: SHV Energy expanded the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) diesel across its transportation fleet in several businesses to reduce emissions.
  • Resource circularity roadmap: A three-year roadmap was outlined to drive progress through data collection, strategy development, and target setting.

Social

  • Transport safety enhancements: The company refined its Transport Safety Compliance Standard, specified truck equipment requirements, and rolled out enhanced safety plans, including for third-party transport.
  • Investment in people and sustainability: SHV Energy invested in its people and long-term business sustainability through initiatives like the Mentoring Programme, Safety Academy, and Digital Transformation Academy. A total of 418 leaders and employees were trained through seven global development programs.
  • Fair pay maturity assessment: A fair pay maturity assessment was implemented across the businesses, evaluating compensation procedures and transparency.
  • Global customer experience programme: A global customer experience (CX) programme was developed to ensure consistent practices across all regions, helping SHV Energy better serve customers worldwide and support their progress in the energy transition.
  • Access to cleaner energy: SHV Energy joined the WLGA Cooking for Life Africa taskforce as part of its focus on providing access to cleaner energy.

Governance

  • Ethics & compliance: Validation workshops on key topics like anti-bribery and corruption were hosted, business-wide assessments were conducted, mitigation measures were reviewed, and best practices were shared with compliance officers.

Strategic enablers

  • Global cybersecurity awareness campaigns: The first annual Global Cybersecurity Awareness Day was launched to enhance company-wide awareness and foster knowledge sharing.
  • Sustainability innovation: Projects from the 2023 Open Innovation Challenge were scaled, including the SensorFact solution to optimise electricity use across locations.
